Sigur Rós - "Varúð" Video
So glad Sigur Ros is back to their old sound. It's seldom that I discourage change in artists but they just sound better when they are melancholic and uplifting all at once. My sister saw them live last night in Philly and was wowed. I saw them back on the () tour and felt the same. If you haven't seen them...you need to. For now a new video for "Varúð".

Fanfarlo "Reservoir" For $1 Recommended by Sigur Ros

We received an email from Sigur Ros this morning that spoke highly of a band called Fanfarlo from London and their debut Reservoir. A Sigur Ros recommendation is good enough for us. And you just can't beat that price!
After one listen we can say it reminds us a little of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and early Cure.
Get the release here. It's available at that price until July 4, 2009.
Our great friends in London Fanfarlo are making their amazing debut album, 'Reservoir', available for $1 (USD) until Independence Day (July 4), along with 4 exclusive bonus tracks. It's got Sigurrós and her cousin Disa on the front cover in a pic by Jónsi's other sis Lilja (true), and we urge you all to go and get it straight away.

Sigur Ros You Tube Competition
This sounds interesting:
Sigur Rós ask people from all around the world to do their own
re-interpretations of a tune? And what better than 'Gobbledigook', the gibberish
anthem itself?
So here we are: we're giving you all the backing track
stripped of lead vocal and the lyrics in both (broken) English and Icelandic as
an MP3 (download here).
All we ask is that you supply your own
rendition of this free-spirited branch of Sigur Ros's development. No holds
barred. The only thing to fear is fear itself, etc, etc
PRIZE: There will be
a signed copy of the Special Edition of Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust to
the most gratifying entry - that's not necessarily the best, just the one the
band like the most. Ok, do your worst....
Go to the Group page on YouTube for complete details: http://www.youtube.com/group/Gobbledigook

Sigur Ros Takes Over YouTube!
If you have taken a look at YouTube today you'll notice something a bit unusual. Our Icelandic friends Sigur Ros have basically taken over.
The band becomes the first to ever release a full length movie on the sight and have all twelve slots on the home page to themselves. Heima will stream in full all day long.
No one would ever believe Sigur Ros to become much more popular than they already are, but I imagine that their are a lot of Fall Out Boy fans that have a new favorite band today. See the movie below.
This from their website:

Official Bonnaroo 2008 Lineup Announced

So Coachella 2008 was a bit of a let down and for a moment so was Bonaroo 2008. Many people saw that Lez Zeppelin was performing and mistook it for another band with a similar sounding name and set list. Anyway once the truth registered people realized - all in all - it looks like a hell of a show. Metallica, Pearl Jam, Mastadon, Sigur Ros, Battles, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss (maybe the Led could show?!), and My Morning Jacket will accompany Lez from June 12-15 in Manchester, TN - among others. See the full lineup here.
