Tori Amos - "Abnormally Attracted to Sin" Brief Review
Tori Amos has been doing this to me for years. I say I'm done with her, she can't possibly hook me in again. And somehow, suddenly she does. Whether it's from my youthful fascination or from the fact that she can still write a damn good song, something has drawn me in again. Maybe it's both.
Check out the tracks "Give" and "Strong Black Vine". If you are a fan this is another must have.
Buy it now via iTunes. We say "it's good".
Sharon Van Etten - "For You"
This is beautiful. Our friends over at Kevchino filmed the one and only Sharon Van Etten performing "For You" from Because I Was in Love in a ROW BOAT at Central Park. Here's hoping that he makes more of these!

Rooftop Films Presents My Teenage Stride Pics of Cymbals Eat Guitars
If you haven't made it to Rooftop Films yet, you are missing out. The vibe is quite unlike anything else in the city. Perched above the city listening to great live music, watching film shorts...and free drinks after...just not on the roof. They don't want anyone to fall.
Although there was some sound problems we had a blast the evening that Cymbals Eat Guitars played (blurry pic above) and every night since has been just as great. Hop on the roof if you get the time. This week has the search for "Winnebago Man" on screen and My Teenage Stride playing some tunes to warm you up.
View the schedule here.

Fanfarlo "Reservoir" For $1 Recommended by Sigur Ros
We received an email from Sigur Ros this morning that spoke highly of a band called Fanfarlo from London and their debut Reservoir. A Sigur Ros recommendation is good enough for us. And you just can't beat that price!
After one listen we can say it reminds us a little of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and early Cure.
Get the release here. It's available at that price until July 4, 2009.
Our great friends in London Fanfarlo are making their amazing debut album, 'Reservoir', available for $1 (USD) until Independence Day (July 4), along with 4 exclusive bonus tracks. It's got Sigurrós and her cousin Disa on the front cover in a pic by Jónsi's other sis Lilja (true), and we urge you all to go and get it straight away.

emusic
I can't just let it die. It's been bothering me all day. I understand that business has to grow, but have we learned nothing from the crash of the major labels. I didn't ask for the Clash, Springsteen or Outkast. I was perfectly happy with the indies. But because you added Sony I get 25 less downloads? Give the people what they want. Shouldn't we have a choice?
Effective Jul 18, 2009, your plan will change to the new eMusic Premium plan which gives you 50 downloads for $19.99 every 30 days.
I used to get 75. Although I welcome the Clash to the Catalog, I already have most Clash releases. Here's the question. Should I stay or should I go?
Let's hope someone pops up to replace emusic.

Orba Squara Covers Lady Gaga's Poker Face
Not too much going on this week over at Spinner's listening party other than the awesome new Eels album, but I found this Orba Squara cover of Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" interesting.
