LOLLAPALOOZA Rumors - Radiohead, NIN, Rage Against The Machine, Wilco, Stone Temple Pilots

If these rumors end up being true this is without a doubt the best of the summer festivals. Per PSNYC, and others, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against The Machine, Wilco, Stone Temple Pilots will join, MGMT, Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Coldplay, Flogging Molly, Stone Temple Pilots, Black Lips, Bloc Party and Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings.

January Band of the Month

We wanted to have this up by the end of January, but time got in the way.

Each month we will post our current favorite band for the present month (we are a few days off this month). It will be based on opinion. Strictly opinion and growth of said opinion. For Example, Radiohead are always held in high regard here at Musicolgynyc, so even though they were very active this month and In Rainbows is still playing away like crazy, it will be very difficult for them to win a band of the month award because it would nearly impossible for us to love them anymore than we do.

Anyway, that probably doesn't make any sense at all.

Regardless, some of the contenders this month were: Magnetic Fields (released a fantastic new album), Vampire Weekend (who have "blown up" even bigger over the last few days), MGMT, and of course Radiohead, among others.

With so many candidates we are proud to announce for January '08 this prestigious award goes to San Francisco's, the Dodos.

The reason we picked the Dodos is simple. They went from relatively unheard of around here to on heavy, heavy rotation.

Congratulations to the Dodos.

MGMT on Letterman, Tour Dates

I have been meaning to post this video of the Brooklyn based band, MGMT from David Letterman the other night, but I just got around to it. A lot of music buddies have been raving about these dudes, and I sort of dig them too. I wonder what gives with the capes though.
