New Review Style

From this point forward, Musicology NYC will be doing all album reviews in a more conversational manner. For example, when we are out at a bar and someone asks us how the new Beck album is we usually have to give a review in three sentences or less or lose the person to a hot blond a good song or a shot of whiskey. Since peoples attention spans are shrinking and we can get a lot more reviews done and sound a lot less pretentious, we are going to do that here...three sentences or less. It's not gonna be easy to be so short winded but we are gonna try.

Additionally, our rating system use to be on a five star system. We are also changing that. Again, when someone asks you about an the new Beck album at a show you usually say a)its amazing b)its really good c)it's good d)it's ok e)it sucks. So yeah, it's still five tiered, but it's now much easier to understand.

New Beck Song "Chemtrails"

Beck gets cool again on our first listen to his new album Modern Guilt. Check out those vocals and drums. So very un-Beck. Dark and eerie. Give an ear to the tiny strumming man at Beck.com.

New Beck - Modern Guilt, Tour Dates

We have been watching this story for quite a while now and we thought we can't hold out any longer.

Beck still gets us excited around here. It seems that his last two records could have been better, but they also could have been worse. Rolling Stone is reporting that the Cheeze Wiz Man has chosen Danger Mouse (of Gnarls Barkley and Gorillaz fame) to spin the dials on Modern Guilt. And apparently these dudes worked hard. The album will have a song called "Walls" on it that will feature Miss Cat Power. Even more to get excited about.

Danger Mouse + Beck = Yes!

I know that Beck has really disapointed of late, but com'on! This has got to be good, right? On his follow up to 2006's The Information Beck will call Gnarls Barkley's main man Danger Mouse to turn the knobs. All we can say is, yes!

Since colaborating with Ike Turner, The Black Keys, MF Doom and Martina Topley-Bird we say when your done with Beck you can take a break Mr. Mouse.
