New Beirut Video - "La Llorona" vie Pitchfork and Stereogum

Next month Zach Condon's Beirut has two EPs coming out. March of the Zapotec and Holland will be packaged together, but each draws on distinct musical influences. March of the Zapotec was recorded in Oaxaca, Mexico, and features contributions from the 19-piece Jimenez Band, while Holland has a synth-pop bent and appears under Condon's Realpeople alias.

Let's assume the video below will be on the former.

"Moon River" really showcases Shara Worden from My Brightest Diamond's vocals.  And yes the second tune is a Vanilla Ice cover in which Clare Muldaur Manchon from Clare and the Reasons seems very uncomfortable.  Click here to view the treat.

Thom Yorke, Kanye West, Stevie Wonder, Coldplay, Lenny Kravitz, Lil Wayne, Rihanna Celebrate The Music That Made Them

I was walking to the subway when I noticed the Thom Yorke photo built of words when I thought, "WTF" and said so to my significant other. A few hours later I saw Stevie Wonder on a bus made of words and suddnely I wanted to write about it or at least do some more research. But Pitchfork got to it before me. Of course.

Pretty cool ad campaign though. The idea is this (via NME):

A Grammy spokeswoman said that each musician taking part in the campaign
was asked to name between 10 and 20 of their favourite artists. These names then
formed the basis of the posters and TV adverts. Among the artists chosen by
Yorke are Liars
and Scott Walker.
