Eddie Vedder - Now and Then

Wanna see my indie cred shrink? Here goes....Pearl Jam was cool. Argue with me and you'd be wrong. Ten was a special record - though No Code was my favorite. However, all that talk last year about their self titled record being a return to form was nonsense. It sucked. Indie cred salvaged?

Anyway here is the new Eddie Vedder video for the song "Guaranteed" from the soundtrack for the movie, "Into the Wild". The soundtrack is well done. Ed's best work in some time. Indie Cred destroyed again. Following it is the video for "Evenflow".

Holler Wild Rose

Holler Wild Rose are from Patterson, New Jersey. I have been listening to the songs on their myspace just about non-stop over the last couple days. After some careful research I have come to the conclusion that they sound like...well, everybody. Think of it like this, the Verve meets My Bloody Valentine, meets My Morning Jacket, meets Jeff Buckley meets...I could go on, but I won't. They are that rare occasion when so many influences are evident that the band sounds completely original. Do yourself a favor and listen. Ahh, those guitars. If you close your eyes for a moment you just might think you're flying. Take a look at the video below and pick up their debut album Our Little Hymnal.

New R.E.M. Album Due in April

I'm not going to pretend that I have any R.E.M. album after Up, but I'm also not going to pretend they haven't created some amazing music up to that point. And I'm also not going to pretend that with every release I don't get really excited.

Anyway, enough rambling. They have a new album titled, Accelerate, that will be released on April 1, 2008. It will be their 14th and apparently it will have the "old" R.E.M. sound with the guitars “turned up”. But that to me is not "old" R.E.M. Oh well.

Scotch Mist - Radiohead Webcast II

Welcome to 2008! I didn't stay in to watch Radiohead's webcast last night, but I have been watching it all evening (as I nurse a severe hangover). The film was titled Scotch Mist and was made by Radiohead, Nigel Godrich, Adam Buxton, Garth Jennings, Stanley Donwood, Ric Jerrom, Hugo Nicolson and Dan Grech-Marguerat. It's a bunch of live performances (Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, Bodysnatchers, Jigsaw Falling Into Place, 15 Step, Videotape, Reckoner, House Of Cards and All I Need) and a video for "Nude". Check it out:
