Wire at South Street Seaport

Thought the seaport isn't the best venue for really any artist, it is especially not good for a band of this magnitude. Not that Wire is a huge act, but their sound is. But wasn't so, last night at Manhattan's South Street Seaport. The band zipped through a set that kept most fans happy as they pulled from their long catalog. All in all it was a good show, considering the cost but if you enjoyed the evening, chances are a smaller venue would be even better. Photo care of Kevchino.

Coldplay "Violet Hill" Alternative Video

Caught this on Stereogum. Got a laugh.

The Hold Steady - "Sequestered In Memphis"

The Hold Steady are a phenomenon that I haven't really got since their rocking debut. It seems since then, their songs are solid, but something makes me feel they are a tad over rated. But hey, who the hell am I? ""Sequestered In Memphis" from the forthcoming Stay Positive LP, is available on iTunes now. Listen below:

Bon Iver on Jools Holland

A reminder of why Bon Iver's For Emma, Forever Ago could be in the top five albums of 2008 as well as 2007. The dude makes you wanna cry.

Aderbat at Pete's Candy Shop

Williamsburg via Philadelphia based band Aderbat is performing this Wednesday evening at Pete's Candy Store in Brooklyn. We have heard a few tracks off their unreleased new record and all we can say is go to this show! This band is refreshing the indie rock scene by pouring real emotion into their tunes rather than worrying about hipness. And how hip is that?

See for yourself at their myspace.

Aderbat - "Hardwired" MP3

New Beck Song "Chemtrails"

Beck gets cool again on our first listen to his new album Modern Guilt. Check out those vocals and drums. So very un-Beck. Dark and eerie. Give an ear to the tiny strumming man at Beck.com.

Mudcrutch - Tom Petty's new old band

Maybe we are a bit late on this, but Tom Petty from the famed Heartbreakers has reformed a band that no one has ever heard of. Mudcrutch was a band that Petty was in before we even knew his name. Apparently, it's pretty good. Imagine his old bandmates getting that phone call.

The bands basically reformed after Petty called his old bandmates out of the blue. They were all unknown and toured with Petty on some dates last month.

Sigur Ros sounding Sigur Ros like:

New Beck - Modern Guilt, Tour Dates

We have been watching this story for quite a while now and we thought we can't hold out any longer.

Beck still gets us excited around here. It seems that his last two records could have been better, but they also could have been worse. Rolling Stone is reporting that the Cheeze Wiz Man has chosen Danger Mouse (of Gnarls Barkley and Gorillaz fame) to spin the dials on Modern Guilt. And apparently these dudes worked hard. The album will have a song called "Walls" on it that will feature Miss Cat Power. Even more to get excited about.

Neil Diamond Plays the Bitter End

Here's something you don't read everyday: Neil Diamond the songwriting mind that brought you, "I'm a Believer" and "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon" performed at the Bitter End on Bleeker Street in the East Village - a place that typically houses out of town bands excitedly scurrying to the Big Apple in hopes of being discovered. Those that made it to the show got in for free, thanks to myspace secret shows. Mr. Diamond played these songs.

"Solitary Man"

"Don't Go There"

"Home Before Dark"

"Really Amazing Grace"

"Kentucky Woman"

"Cherry, Cherry"

"Sweet Caroline"

This place holds maybe 50 people and though we aren't the biggest Neil fans in the world, we surely wouldn't have mind cramming in their last night.

Radiohead Videos

As we mentioned, Radiohead holed up in Nigel Godrich's basement and came up with some live footage. Check it here.

Additionally the band worked with MTV for the video for the song "All I Need". It was made to raise awareness of child sex and forced labor.
