Exitmusic - "Passage" Video
Listened to these guys earlier in the year but have fell in love with them recently. The singer also starred in Boardwalk Empire but to me she should just sing all the time. Check out this track and video for "Passage". Enjoy Exitmusic.

Check out the Silent Signals awesome version of Peter Gabriel's classic, "Games Without Frontiers".
Musicology NYC Best of 2012 (1-15) List by Nick Greto
14 Liars – WIXIW: Liars. Always solid but this is their best LP since Drum's Not Dead
13 Guts – Paradise for All: Dope beats!
12 Gojira – L’Enfant Sauvage: Metal. that you must see live to believe.
11 Gonzalez- Solo Piano II: Number one fall-asleep LP of 2012. Also, nice to pay attention to.
10 Flying Lotus – Until the Quiet Comes: FlyLo with a softer album than Cosmogramma but still damn good.
9 XXYYXX – XXYYXX: More beats. Heard this kid was 17 when this was recorded. Awesome.
8 Kendrick Lamar – good kid, mAAd City: Didn't love his mix tapes so this was a surprise.
7 Chromatics – Kill for Love: Smooth. And opening with a Neil Young cover?
6 Wild Nothing – Nocturne - This one really grew on me this year. Only a few guitar albums on here. For fans of the Cure and the Smiths.
5 Passion Pitt – Gossamer Party LP of the year? Maybe. More like, damn, this is fun ...But sad. My favorite kind of LP.
4 Frank Ocean – Channel Orange: First part of the Year of R&B trilogy (see below). If you would have told me this wasn't my fav of the year when it dropped I'd'a told ya, you crazy.
3 Michael Kiwanuka – Home Again: Crazy that Terry Callier passes the same year this dude hits it big. Classic album. Immediately.
2 Alt-J – An Awesome Wave: A very, very creative rock album. So nice to hear rock songs sounding so unique. Expecting great things from these dudes.
1 Miguel – Kaleidoscope Dream - Woah! Where did this come from? So damn good. And who expected it? I added this after reading about it on Pitchfork. Pitchfork of all places! And before I played it I went in with such hesitation. It is so great to be surprised by something this good. Every track on this is awesome.
Here is a playlist I put together that has a song from just about every album that I liked last year. I should also mention that Wildcookie was a discovery this year and if you haven't hear them, you need to.
I love list season.

Musicology NYC Best of 2012 (16-50) List by Nick Greto
I promised myself I would only do a top 20 this year and then I would list the rest without numbers. For some reason that never happened. I will be making notes as we get closer to number one. That should happen tomorrow or Wednesday. Regardless, here is the MusicologyNYC top albums of 2012.

Other Lives and Indians at Music Hall of Williamsburg 11/29/12
Amazing show last night as newly signed 4AD artist and up and comer, Indians took the stage with a beautiful mixed set of acoustic and electronic tunes, followed by the full on classic-rock-merges-with-modern-rock sound of Other Lives.
I snapped a few pictures but as usual they do the sound no justice.

The Sword at Webster Hall 11/14/12
Amazing night at Webster Hall last night. The Sword just about ripped the roof of the place with their Sabbath-esque rock. It's only a matter of time before they are playing arenas (if we can rewind 20 years and they are already there, maybe).
Here are some photos from the show that give no justice to the sound.

Awesome show last night at Glasslands in Williamsburg. oOoOO played a dark and deep set of his witch-house sounds that satiated a crowd who only wanted to move. oOoOO, himself kept his heads down and let the music do the talking. And talk it did. I snapped a few photos that I thought you would enjoy. But you must check out oOoOO on soundcloud below if you haven't yet. Anyway, watch "Yet Again" below, 'cause you know that you are "supposed to" love these dudes.

"Taking shelter in a nearby household, we decend on the darkest, dankest corner of a warm and welcoming loft so that the ominous sound of Cold Specks can at once warm and chill the space, filling it to the rafters with vibrations that haunt as they comfort, question as they resolve."

ANTIBALAS
I was sent a link for a great article via the NYT by a friend on the great Antibalas. They have just released a new LP that falls in line with their earlier stuff. This is a great album to put on when you are having an outdoor party or when you feel like moving. Been a fan for years, have seen them live a few times but that article and my friend bring up a great point, if you don't know Antibalas, you need to...now.
Apollo Brown - "God's Creation (instrumental)"

Sigur Rós - "Varúð" Video
So glad Sigur Ros is back to their old sound. It's seldom that I discourage change in artists but they just sound better when they are melancholic and uplifting all at once. My sister saw them live last night in Philly and was wowed. I saw them back on the () tour and felt the same. If you haven't seen them...you need to. For now a new video for "Varúð".
