New Twin Tigers Tune
I owe all of my Twin Tigers knowledge to Sarah Spy. They are way cool and they have a new song that is way cool, too. You can get it here. Look at those dudes over there. Crazy.

Dan Black - "Symphonies" Video
Hot Chip - "One Life Stand" Video
At one point I've heard that this new Hot Chip album sounds just like a Hot Chip album should and I have been listening to it like mad. And I'd agree. It's pretty cool. See the new video from Myspace (think Facebook with music) called "One Life Stand" from the album of the same name out February 9, 2010.

Red Baraat at Barbes in Park Slope
I can only say great things about the Red Baraat show at Barbes in Park Slope. Absolutely one of the best shows in some time. Packed in a tiny room, lots of drums and horns, dancing and sweating. If you've not heard these dudes it's time to buy the album and go see them. They'll be at [le] Poisson Rouge on Saturday for their CD release. Run.
The two videos below aren't the best quality but you'll get the idea.

The Very Best "Warm Heart of Africa" Video Premier
"The Warm Heart of Africa" is a new video by The Very Best (the uncomfortably named Radioclit and Malawian singer Esau Mwamwaya). This is one you'd be happy to dance to for sure. Via mtvU.

Laura Veirs - "July Flame" Video
First thing I notived on this new Laura Veirs video was that the computer in the beginning is probably not an Apple product. How dare you Ms. Veirs.
A great song nonetheless. Will you let it slide?

Class Actress at Highline Ballroom Thursday
Elizabeth Harper has a singer-songwriter kinda name. And she used to be and sorta still is. But she does so in a non-singer-songwriter way. In a more new wave kinda way. Or somethin'. She and her band perform under the moniker Class Actress and they make good music.
If you don't believe me then believe Pitchfork (Rising!) and Grizzly Bear (They are on Terrible Records the new label run by Chris Taylor). What more could you ask for? How bout live music...Thursday, January 7th with Au Revoir Simone. Doors are at 7pm, Class Actress on at 9:30pm

Strong Arm Steady feat. Phonte "Best of Times"
Yes. I like music when it sounds like this: Strong Arm Steady feat. Phonte "Best of Times". I would marry Stones Throw Records if it were legal. Can't wait to hear this whole thing.
Brothers Johnson - "Stomp"
Happy New Year people.
My most recent vinyl score was $1 for the album "Light Up the Night" by the Brothers Johnson. For those of you not in the know the album is produced by Quincy Jones, it has songs written by Rod Temperton (MJ songwriter)and Michael Jackson himself.
"Stomp" was a song I heard one night back in Philly in my mom's car, I shazamed it and saw this album art:
So therefore I was hooked.
