Major Lazer - "Keep It Going Louder"

Major Lazer shocked the world with the bitter sweet dance melody video of "Pon De Floor". Now they are back with a creepy one with sweet lyrics and dancability "Keep It Going Louder".

New Spoon Song

These dudes keep on just making good songs. I don't even have to listen to this one to know that Spoon will be it in 2010. Hear their new one over at NPR. "Written In Reverse" will lead Transference into the best of list for next year. Wanna bet?

William DeVaughn- "Be Thankful for What You've Got"

Appropriately, I woke up with this song by William DeVaughn in my head yesterday and I assumed I would get this up on my ultra important blog, but I got caught up with my hip fam. We were eating turkey. I was vegetarian though and had a tofurkey. Or nah.

Enjoy this song today even though it's a day late. This is the original. You probably know the Massive Attack version because you are more indie.

Happy Thanksgiving.

- be thankful for what you've got (original)

Phenomenal Handclap Band @ Bowery 12.11, Video for "15 to 20"

I listened to Phenomenal Handclap Band on my Thanksgiving trip to Philly or should I say the Philly burbs. I really think this group is underrated. I wonder how many of my peeps would agree. Anyway, I think I may go to see them play their tunes at the Bowery B on 12/11. It's their last show of the year and if you miss them you may be sad.

Below you can watch their video. You probably won't ever see this on MTV so the only place to watch it is here.

Califone - "Funeral Singers" Video

While I write a review for another sweet indie pub, watch Califone's, "Funeral Singers". Don't bother me though. At least til I'm done.

Class Actress, Acrylics, Violens on Wednesday, December 9th at the Mercury Lounge

Some super sweet bands at the the MerLou on a Wednesday in December. Been listening to the Acrylics EP (you can download it for free there too) a lot lately and it's sorta dope. I think you'll like it to if you know what's good. Also Class Actress is the other one that will be playing and Pitchfork is hyping them so they gotta be good, right? Violens EP I listened to a lot some time a go but when I listened to it today I didn't get excited.

Might go to this show.

Here's an Acrylics tune called "All of the Fire"

Here's a Class Actress song called "Careful What You Say"

Where else can you get these things but Musicology NYC?

Grizzly Bear - "Ready, Able" Video

Here's a band that I write about only to get visitors to Musicology NYC. 0h Grizzly Bear, thou are holy. After years of trying to be cool enough t0 like them, I've accepted that I'll never get them.

Here's another thing; Horn of Plenty is their best album.

Check out the new video for "Ready, Able" from everyone's favorite 2009 album Veckatimest.

Bebel Gilberto and Mark Ronson - "The Real Thing" MP3

I've been seeing pictures of Bebel Gilberto all over the city. I guess that makes her not really "indie" but still she can sing good and who doesn't dig good singers especially when they work with... Mark Ronson. Holla. That dude is mad sick at making records like Amy Winehouse's and others probably too.

Listen to and download "The Real Thing" here.

Bebel Gilberto will tour these places too.

Loretta Lynn & Jack White - "Portland Oregon" Video

Because cool people shop at thrift stores I swung by the thrift store near my apartment and picked up Loretta Lynn's 20 Greatest Hits knowing nothing other than Jack White digs her. Because Jack White knows what's cool, I listened and liked too. Thanks for the referral Mr. White.

True: the mighty Stereogum (rarggghhh) premiered this cool video from the Bishop Allen album Grr... called "True or False". True, there's a lot of people dancing in this vid. Turns out some people can dance soberly. And to this song nonetheless. Go people.

Spinner has Julian Casablancas, Cold Cave, More

Hey look, it's Julian Casablancas again. I wonder if anyone would pay this album any attention if he weren't the singer of the Strokes.

Spinner also has this new Cold Cave album that a few people have been talking about. And that Foo Fighters we're all excited about. Or no.

But they do have Creedence and Slayer. And those dudes really are good.

Listen to all here.
